Doggerel generator

When ChatGPT became available I asked it in early November to write a poem about “strange attractors”, a concept from chaos theory. It generated the following creditably decent poem. (My apologies, WordPress destroys verse formatting).

In chaos and confusion,

A strange attractor emerges,

A beacon in the storm,

A pattern in the noise.

Like a magnet it draws us in,

A source of order and beauty,

A guiding light in the darkness,

A clue to the mysteries of the universe.

Its curves and loops and spirals,

A dance of chaos and symmetry,

A symphony of randomness and harmony,

A glimpse of the hidden order of the world.

We are drawn to its allure,

A strange attractor in our own lives,

A reminder to seek the patterns in the chaos,

To find the beauty in the unknown.

A couple of weeks later I can’t even  use direct prompt instructions to override a new tendency to enforce a rigid structure. It has become a doggerel generator. How disappointing.

Write a poem in free verse, without rhyme, about “strange attractors”

In the chaos of the world,

There are forces that unfurl.

Strange attractors, wild and free,

A dance that’s hard to see.

Their patterns twist and turn,

A force that never quite burns.

They pull and tug,

A dance that never quite hugs.

But in the chaos, there’s a plan,

A path that’s hard to understand.

A place where the unpredictable meets the known,

A place where the future is shown.

So let the strange attractors guide,

Through the twists and turns of life.

For in their strange and chaotic ways,

There’s a path that always stays.
