images 050623 (MJ 5.1)

The big news this week is Midjourney has migrated to Version 5.1, so I made some images to try it out. V5.1 creates more detailed images, but its native mode is “opinionated”, which basically means it wants to force a certain look and feel that I find constraining. There is also a “raw” mode, which I have mostly used; it tends to bypass some of the overly florid “opinionated” defaults, for a look that feel is more appropriate for my efforts.

I created a series of generations using prompt situations involving mandrake roots. The results were quite varied and I was pleased with several generations. Here are some examples:

Here are some images based on situations in the frozen Antarctic. I especially like the way the sunlight plays on the ice in two of the images. I discovered penguins are hard, because images can easily devolve into the realm of “cute.”

I did a lot more experimenting with different subjects and situations, not all of it interesting. Here are some of the better efforts.

I am continuing to experiment with V5.1 and will post more as it becomes available.
